DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Essentia Health nurses will be holding an informational picket at the new St. Mary’s Medical Center on Friday.
The picket, organized by the Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA), is being held to call attention to ongoing staffing concerns at Essentia.
According to the MNA, as Essentia prepares to open the new facility, they have proposed cuts to the number of nurses scheduled for each shift even as the number of patients increase.
They claim that decisions on staffing levels are being made by out-of-state executives with no connections to the local community.
The informational picket is not a work stoppage. Nurses will not walk off the job to join the picket and hospital operations will not be affected.
